[Study Strategy] Oral Composition with Sonocent.

Some students find it hard to demonstrate their knowledge of a subject in writing.

While they can speak on a topic with confidence, composing well structured written work is another thing entirely.

Verbal communication is where their strength lies.

For these students, Sonocent offers another way to tackle that big assignment...

One where they lay the foundations for their final written piece as an audio recording, only moving to text when they are comfortable.

Here’s our simple step-by-step study strategy to oral composition with Sonocent.

1. Dictate summaries of lecture recordings

(i) Open the audio notes created with Sonocent (Study Strategy: Audio Note Taking with Sonocent)

(ii) Dictate summaries of the classroom audio adjacent to the original recording

2. Utilize as the starting point for written work

(i) Listen back to the dictations, delete, rephrase, expand, and restructure until the core structure of the assignment is fully developed in an audio format.

(ii) Transcribe dictations manually or with the Scribe tool (the student will require Dragon NaturallySpeaking Premium or Professional, version 11 or later) and export to Word.
