Updates

PC

The latest version 2 update is 2.5.2962, released 18st April 2012. This supports more index marks and removes the problem of text loss in full screen mode. The previous 2.5 release fixed problems with using Dragon Naturally Speaking and auto-scrolling whilst recording.

Version 2.5.2742 (released in Dec 2011) introduced the reading of index marks from a wider range of Olympus recorders, in particular the DM-670. We haven’t been able to test every Olympus model, so if you find that index marks on your recorder are not being read, please contact support@sonocent.com. All three audio formats (wma, mp3 and wav) are supported, but for mp3 “temp” marks are not supported since these are not embedded in the audio file itself.

Version 2.5 (released in August 2011) introduced these new features:

  • More import formats. You can now import audio from .m4a and most .mp4 and .mov files. If you are running XP or Vista you will be prompted to download QuickTime if you don’t have it installed.
  • Single Audio Notetaker window. If you are already running Audio Notetaker, opening a .ran file from Windows Explorer will simply open a new tab. You can change this behaviour in Tools->Options.
  • Link to documents. Select “Copy” on any document in Windows Explorer and paste it into the notes pane to get a URL-style link.

Note that a Windows 7 Update on 12th July 2011 prevented Audio Notetaker 2.4.2144 and earlier from starting up. If this is your first update since then, you may be asked to activate on-line, but you won’t need to enter your serial number again. If you have activated on two PCs, you should re-activate the later one first. If activation is refused, please email your serial number to support@sonocent.com and we will reset it for you.

Mac

The latest version is Version 2.6.3014.0, released on the 8th May 2012.

This supports more index marks and fixes a number of small problems, like switching to a USB headset as soon as it is plugged in and scrolling whilst recording. Activation is now separate to registration. Note that in 2.6.3007.0 released 4th May, we had accidentally disabled the Activate New Licence Key menu.
